It’s Time To Fall Back In Love With Yourself

It’s Time To Fall Back In Love With Yourself

 “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ~ Rumi

Valentine’s Day is here, and so is the pressure to play along with its conventions. Whatever be your current relationship status, we all reckon the importance of relationships in our lives. But we often forget how crucial it is to nurture our relationship with ourselves. Knowing how to fall in love with “you” is not egotistic or narcissistic, but the key to unlocking your happiness. So here I am, sharing five of my favourite little luxuries on how to fall in love with yourself, and begin the innermost process of self-discovery about love.

  1. A Pat with a Pen

A thousand voices might scream from your depths, conjuring comparisons with peers, and grating judgments. It’s time to cut some slack. Why don’t you pick up a pen/iPad mini and start jotting down your positive traits? It could be those abstract qualities or specific instances but find at least five of them. Words hold a lot of power, so writing and reciting them would help those compliments stay etched in your mind. Consider it a letter for your future self and one you will need the most when you are at your lowest.

  1. Wash Your Worries Away

In my mind, happiness is a warm, uninterrupted bubble bath. It’s certainly not a panacea for your biting problems, but it’s a break you need to unwind yourself. So, soak your worries in the hot tub and let the water droplets wash them away. Add a glass of wine, a bowl of strawberries, scented candles, and some music for ambience. 🙂 Sip on your drink and relax. While enjoying the time spent in your bubble bath, chant some positive affirmations ~ you will soon see how easy it is to fall back in love with yourself.

  1. Rediscover Yourself with Reading

Your daily life’s din and bustle might have deprived you of your chances to connect with words, but let’s tune into reading now. Lying in those words might be pearls of wisdom; text that will challenge your perspective, and push you to grow and unfold a whole new life. In my opinion, reading not only teaches you how to fall in love with yourself but also helps you feel more comfortable in your own skin. Many a time, I have found a few words or even a paragraph stand out to inspire me and help me rediscover myself. So pick a calm spot, turn the diffuser on, and dive deep into the world of that elusive book you’ve always been meaning to read.

  1. Lingerie that Makes You Feel…

When I started to work a 9-5 job post-graduation, I didn’t have a lot of money to spend on expensive clothing so I bought myself some beautiful inner-wear instead. To me, lace trim satin lingerie was {and still is} a great mood enhancer and a very personal way of expressing love for “me”. And trust me when I say, wearing lingerie in sensual styles gives you a pep in your step; improving confidence and self-esteem. Good inner-wear is the foundation to every look after all, and I have no doubt it will show you how to fall in love with yourself all over again!

  1. What you do versus what you want to do

Taking on life’s big tasks and responsibilities often means giving away our personal power, i.e. we forget to connect with our inner being. To focus on self-love, we must allow ourselves the luxury of a break from the humdrum of life. I believe that starts with a shot of digital detox; to forgo our electronic gadgets for a while, thereby disconnecting from the tension that stems from it.

Nourish your soul further by taking a riverboat journey into your mind’s jungles through a session of meditation or spiritual practice. When you strike a pleasant chord and feel vibrations of self-love, stay on that note and allow the feeling to linger. A realisation will soon dawn upon you that understanding how to fall in love with yourself is all about finding these little moments. You may now infuse this love with your interactions with others in your life.

To conclude: Your relationship with yourself is as meaningful as any other relationship in your life. Understanding how to fall in love with yourself is all about realising your intrinsic value and feeling compassion and love toward yourself. This will also help you to stop seeking approval from another or needing someone else to feel complete. So, once in a while, find time to indulge in some self-love and get to know yourself better. You deserve it!

  • You are so inspiring! ❤️

    Every time you share the difficult things, it makes me look at my own difficulties in a new light. The journey isn’t always easy, but that’s what makes it beautiful, I guess…

  • So glad I’ve found you! Thank you for your wellness posts – I look forward to them every month ❤️.

    On that note, I’ll be the first to say I’m not perfect and, in the past, I realise the mistakes I have made and how I have evolved from those flaws. I have worked extremely hard on my own growth to ensure I don’t make those same mistakes anymore. 🙂

  • Thank you so much for your positive words! ❤️

    I feel stuck at the moment & need help but am still communicating with my inner child every day & can feel her opening up & responding. And yes, it’s a perfect day to spend some quality time with myself.

  • “The light in our eyes is a reflection of our light content.” – Jacob Israel Liberman

    When we step into our true selves & allow the essence of who we are to shine through, we radiate our unique light & naturally attract what is aligned for us & release what is not.

    On a side note: You are a human with a giant heart! ❤️

  • This is brave work that requires vulnerability. ✨✨✨ Healing happens when we go deep and acknowledge our pain instead of hiding it, shaming it or wishing it away. This is the process of transformation…

    So glad to be connected to you on here, and thankful for our friendship!

  • We all have been there… Comparing ourselves with our friends, co-workers, enemies and the list goes on and on. But what good does it brings? It only steals our happiness…

    So, how do you break this cycle of comparing yourself with others?
    * Start being grateful.
    * Be OK with imperfection.
    * Believe in yourself.

    We all are UNIQUE and that’s what makes us powerful!

  • Yes, spend time nourishing your spirit. And, definitely take inspiration from nature because nature has a lot to offer us…

    By the way, I am so grateful from deep, deep down to have connected with you… with all my heart ❤️!

  • So sweet and inspiring, Tanya! ❤️

    I love that you blocked away any negativity… Remember this – life is difficult and complicated, so don’t wait to live your one precious life while prioritizing “you”, you may run out of time!

  • I love everything you post!! So motivating and inspiring…

    It’s never too late to feel brand new.
    It’s never too late to create a life you love.
    It’s never too late to say “yes” to self-love.

    Now is the time.
    To be present in your presence.

    • It is such a pleasure to see your comment, Divya. I love hearing that it’s never too late. It’s hard for many not to get lost in the fear of that. Hope you are doing great!

  • This makes soooo much sense!!

    “We are only limited by the weakness of attention, and poverty of imagination…”
    That being said, if you can believe it – I am still getting used to the whole pandemic thing and so appreciate this post!

  • Perfect timing for me to see/read this… Such a great message! So grateful to connect with other like-minded women!

    I would like to add a point as well. When you sit down with no distractions, when you envision what the greatest ideal of yourself would look like, then focus on a vision of the future. You will start to become the person that you need to be…

  • Yes Queeeeeen! Love this post and this mindset ❤️!

    Let’s try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time we have…
    Let’s keep living our life with appreciation & gratitude…
    Let’s put some colour in our grey…
    And, let’s smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.

  • Strongly agree.

    The key is making a choice. You decide the things that you want in life. You decide to take the necessary steps towards the life you love. In effect, you decide to be the change. Once you DECIDE, then you know what steps you’re going to take. In short, life is about decisions. If you don’t decide to change the trajectory of your life, who will?

  • Amazing work, Tanya!

  • One thing I was reminded of last year is that I can’t control everything, but I can control how I respond, how I think and what I do. Sooo ready to live my life by MY choice! Sooo ready to fall back in love with “ME”!
