Book launch: ‘25 of India’s Biggest Chefs’ by Dr.Saagarika Ghoshal.
I was recently invited to attend the book launch of ‘25 of India’s Biggest Chefs’, a compilation of all-time favourite recipes from the repertoire of India’s top 25 chefs, hosted by METRO Cash & Carry at the Le Méridien Hotel in Bangalore. Authored by Dr.Saagarika Ghoshal, Director – Human Resources at METRO Cash & Carry India, to honour the country’s top chefs, the book chronicles stories of 25 celebrated and award-winning chefs in India, their journey into the culinary world and some innovative recipes from their kitchens.
Speaking at the event, Dr Saagarika Ghoshal reiterated METRO’s commitment to serving the industry. “The chefs in this book have distinguished themselves by the quality, refinement and creativity they bring to each and every dish they serve. METRO hopes to fuel this passion for food not just amidst established chefs, but more importantly, ignite it in future culinarians who dream of blazing a trail in the world of food”, said Dr. Ghoshal.
METRO’s presentation of their latest recipe book ‘25 of India’s Biggest Chefs’, is a step towards honouring the creative force that drives the hospitality industry – the Chef, and to showcase such talent among food lovers and cooking enthusiasts.
From Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s Shaam Savera to Chef Kunal Kapur’s Haleem Kebab and Chef Vikas Khanna’s Star Anise and Bay Leaf-Infused Lamb Chops, each curated recipe introduces readers to a new gastronomic journey across a global culinary map. The carefully crafted recipes use readily available ingredients, require little effort and taste amazing. Said Chef Manjit Gill in a video message played at the event, “I reckon it’s the first time such a compilation has been put together. It gives me immense pleasure to be one among the list. Congratulations Dr Ghoshal, on this commendable effort. I love it!
On the occasion, Dr. Saagarika Ghoshal also felicitated chefs from across the hospitality industry for their unique creative contributions. Those honoured included chefs Abhijit Saha, Kunal Kapoor, Sabyasachi Gorai and Vicky Ratnani, among others. The recipients comprised a veritable Who’s Who of India’s best loved chefs, who have combined their unique cooking methods with classic recipes from global cuisines, to offer authentic flavours in their very own signature styles.
