Underdoggs Sports Bar and Grill
I was recently invited to Underdoggs Sports Bar and Grill to sample some of their signature dishes. The famed Sports Bar from Delhi has finally made inroads down south and opened up in JP Nagar, Bangalore.
What is it that one expects from a sports bar? Live screenings on projectors and LCD; Underdoggs Sports Bar and Grill provides that and much more. Spread over two floors, with ultra-modern functional interiors which are designed with utmost attention to detail, the lower level boasts a large seating area, with pool and Foosball tables spread across different sections; a table tennis area, and as a welcome relief for non-smokers, they have an enclosed designated area for smokers which is well ventilated. The upper deck is open-air with dart boards, video games, and a few more pool tables to ensure that one has a great time no matter what!
Underdoggs Sports Bar and Grill serves Mediterranean, Italian and American cuisine along with a variety of beverages. I was served their signature mocktail as a welcome drink ~ Robin Van Berry, a tribute to Netherlands striker Robin Van Persie. Robin Van Berry is a fusion drink of passion fruit and tangy cranberries served with fresh orange slices and just a hint of mint, topped with soda & ice ~ absolutely refreshing! The Litchi flavoured Vodka based Kamikaze Shots were served next in a rather interesting way ~ on a table tennis racket, which had shot glasses fitted into it!
The Food
- A perfect starter to compliment my drinks was the Popcorn Shrimp consisting of small crispy shrimp served with salsa and finger-licking thousand island sauce.
- The Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings was marinated and cooked to perfection, while the Spicy Harissa which was made with chilli peppers was an absolute firecracker, exploding with a delightful flavour in the mouth.
- The Chicken Tandoori Momos stuffed with spicy chicken which blended nicely with the tandoori marinate, tasted fantastic. The recipe is very unique: Steamed momos are marinated in barbeque flavoured masala for a few hours and are then grilled in the tandoor. Must try!
- The hand-tossed Vegetarian Makhani Pizza had a wafer-thin crust baked to perfection, with a yummy combination of toppings including paneer, sautéed onions, capsicum, roasted garlic, and cheese. Must have for Pizza lovers.
- The Naan/Roti rolls had an interesting presentation ~ a small naan with chicken curry topping. The server explained that it was supposed to be eaten by folding it up Taco style. It was yummy, and each bite packed a punch.
- A perfect ending to my culinary experience was the Gulab Jamun; dipped in rum and served with ice cream ~ very innovative. Exquisite taste, loved it!
To conclude: I loved the overall experience that Underdoggs Sports Bar and Grill has to offer; nice ambience, sporty decor with gaming areas, interesting food, and a well-stocked bar.
