Top Food Bloggers in India
Are you a foodie? Do you like trying out new recipes? Do you feel like sharing your recipes with others? Do you want to start a food blog and become a successful food blogger?
Then this post is for you.
So how do you go about starting a food blog?
Just like a travel or fashion blog, food is another topic that fascinates readers. I have a few interesting tips to help you become one of the Top Food Bloggers in India, and if necessary, even monetise your blog to supplement your current income. This post should hold special interest for those who love cooking and trying out new recipes.
I’d like to start by helping you understand what food blogging entails: Food blogging is an outlet to showcase your creativity and aesthetic sense, and this can be exhibited in the manner you design your site and present content. Your site can focus on your niche: curating recipes, or food styling, or food photography, or reviewing food at different restaurants. But if your interest lies in all of the above, in that case, your content can consist of a mix of posting recipes, restaurant reviews, as well as curating food shopping guides and tips.
Once the above has been decided on, you can choose your preferred platform and create a distinctive name. With your domain name finalised, the next important step will be to create a website with an appealing theme to make your site look attractive and different from the ones that already exist. Equally important is ease of navigation: your recipes and content should be easy to find, and the topic you are writing on should be specific and clear.
It’s important to remember not to make your blog layout complicated by using CAPTCHA or making visitors login if they want to comment on your posts. Get a user-friendly theme that has in-built design options, as that will save you time when it comes to handling the basics; i.e. changing your logo, colour scheme, and other options based on the theme you choose.
The next step would be to ensure that there are a good number of posts when your blog goes live. Your content should keep your readers interested in coming back and reading your posts again. And in my experience, it is imperative that you have good writing skills, and a unique personal tone to make your posts more captivating and fun for your readers. It would work to your advantage to decide beforehand on the number of posts you want to put out in a week so that the blog is active. Also, keep in mind the type of audience you want to cater to so that there is clarity on who is reading your posts.
Additionally, it is important to post good and authentic content where the context is clear; i.e. the instructions on your site should be comprehensible and there should be consistency in formatting. I have also realised that food photography is as important as the recipes because pictures speak. There are many ways to edit and make food pictures look luscious; these pictures will inspire readers to love the recipes you curate and recreate those dishes. Your blog posts should also be easy to share, so provide social media sharing buttons at the end of each post.
Be passionate about what you are posting because it shows in the content, the recipes, and the pictures you post. And, do not refrain from being your original self because that is the best way to connect with like-minded people. A point to note: since your blog is a reflection of you and your personality, signing off using your name will help readers feel a strong connect, i.e. you can make your readers feel as if they are on a journey with you. On that note, if your blog is all about health, healthy food, and healthy eating; practice what you are posting because readers will expect that from you.
Network with other bloggers and check out what they are doing; you will likely find people who are inspirational and encouraging, thereby helping you to build a good network around your niche. Interacting with fellow bloggers will also help you when it comes to seeking their advice and support.
You can monetise your blog through ads and sponsorship, and turn your passion into a 5 or 6 figure income. You just need to plan properly and take action to make it happen. But remember that earning money through your blog means you need to have traffic. It is only after you have visitors to your blog that you can begin with adding money-making resources. Ad Revenues, text link ads, paid sponsorship posts, pay per click, eBook tutorials and guides, and affiliate revenue are different ways of garnering an income from your blog. You also have the option of becoming a consultant and promoting healthy eating, by giving tips for an hour daily, via webcam or Skype.
In a nutshell, these are the initial few things one needs to think of while setting up their food blog. So, if you have been confused as to what a food blog is and what food blogging entails, I hope this guide on how to become one of the Top Food Bloggers in India, has cleared things up at least a little bit.
