The Cult Of MUJI

The Cult Of MUJI

Decoding the cult of MUJI

MUJI, originally founded in Japan in 1980 ~ a humble start with 40 products ranging from stationery to kitchen appliances ~ presently offers 7000+ products including apparel, household items, and food. Their products are reasonably priced, highly competitive, top quality with no frills, and continue to have a sizeable share of the market.

Mujirushi Royhin (MUJI) in Japanese translates to “no-brand quality goods.”

The foundation of MUJI is based on its core values and three guiding principles:

  1. Material selection
  2. Streamlined processes
  3. Simplified packaging

The speciality of MUJI’s products is that they follow an extremely powerful yet very rational manufacturing process, which is that they are very simple, yet stylish in their own way. They believe in high connection with their users and embracing universality, and this has helped build ‘The Cult of Muji’.

Muji is well known for its design excellence which follows a minimalism approach emphasising reusability, durability, and efficiency in production and packing; which is backed by a unique first of its kind ‘no-logo’ and ‘no-brand’ policy.

The Japanese retail giant will open its first store at Palladium, Mumbai in August, and follow it up with a second outpost in Bangalore’s VR Bengaluru in September.

Colours of the Earth

What would Earth be like without humans? You may be surprised to know that there exists such a place on our planet, which is untouched, pristine, and is a perfect example of nature at its best when there is no external interference.

Indonesia has over 13000+ islands, and one of them is Raja Ampat Islands, which is very near to New Guinea. Here the Indian Ocean meets the Pacific Ocean, and as a result, the islands that are shaped like clusters of mushrooms have the most biodiverse marine ecosystem in the world! The islands are untouched by humans and have nature thriving at its best; if you get a chance to dive in, you will witness breath-taking corals, extending for miles together. MUJI has brought this to life through their photographs. MUJI Colours of the Earth represents nature at its best by reproducing the colours of Earth woven through the struggle for survival.

If you’re living your best life after Marie Kondo-ing everything from your closet to your love life, the new Muji store opening in VR Bengaluru might be just the place for you. 🙂
