How to Make a Perfect Green Smoothie

How to Make a Perfect Green Smoothie

For most of us, the idea of a green leafy meal doesn’t usually brighten up our day. While I take the greatest pleasure in treating my eyes to the green garb of Mother Nature, veggies are not always on the top of my food list. But sometimes, sneaking leafy greens into my meals via a smoothie really works. Smoothie recipes have come a long way from those early versions that focused on fitness and ignored the cries of our taste buds. This green smoothie recipe {my favourite} is well-balanced, bringing in a glass of fitness, good taste and energy {I promise!}.

I know that you may have a million reasons to skip the rigmarole of making your own smoothie and instead just buy one on the go. But consider the fact that a self-made smoothie gives you the chance to alter the taste, experiment with flavours, try new ingredients and even balance the ingredients to meet your fitness needs. Making adjustments to the piquancy of the greens, changing the amount of honey and sugar to meet your health requirements and controlling the protein level of the smoothie are some of the simplest reasons a homemade smoothie is so much better than the ones we purchase.

With ingredients that are available round the year and effort which equals just enough for you to switch on your blender, you can have this wonderful green smoothie for a filling breakfast or simply enjoy a glass of this refreshing green drink in the evening as a substitute for tea/coffee.

My recipe includes spinach which is known for its fitness-friendly nutrients like iron, calcium, Vitamin K, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and fibre to name a few. Its rich treasure of nutrients also makes this leafy green a potent antioxidant, and researchers have been speculating that it may even have anti-cancer abilities. The addition of hemp seeds makes this smoothie protein-rich {I add a few scoops of a plant-based protein powder as well to give it an extra protein boost}. The best way to sweeten the smoothie is with a touch of honey, which will also provide you with the carb factor. With all of these ingredients blended in, you will get that burst of energy your body needs to stay revitalised throughout the day!
