How to Increase Social Media Engagement Organically

How to Increase Social Media Engagement Organically

How to Increase Social Media Engagement Organically

Social media engagement starts as a blind date and turns into a long-term relationship. As in a blind date, you must be wildly imaginative and entertaining to keep the conversation going on with someone you will be meeting for the first time, similarly in social media, you must be extremely creative to keep your audience engaged while also putting in the investment and commitment of a long-time relationship to ensure their loyalty. Mentioned below are five easy steps on how to increase your social media engagement organically.

Interact With And Engage Your Followers

Organic engagement is your answer to all the queries you have regarding social media promotion. As people are continually looking at the content you are posting, think of engagement as an all-day, everyday process, where you connect with your audience frequently. Maintaining healthy engagement with your target audience personifies your brand, as the more dynamic you become, your chances of appearing first on searches improves.

Now unless you’re superhuman, it’s not physically possible to connect with your target audience every time. However, setting different times to engage with people would be a viable solution. To promote your Instagram page or to increase Facebook likes, start leaving genuine comments rather than a like on the posts shared by others. Sharing the original posts and giving credits to the author of the posts is likewise a great form of engagement.

Be Receptive With Your Audience

For a remarkable presence on social media, just advertising your brand is not enough. It’s more about making a real-time connection with your audience, and understanding and engaging in their world. Remember that responsiveness is the key to connecting with them. Always be receptive to their concerns and suggestions and respond accordingly. Just as in the case of a physical store, you would have answered all the queries of your customers, similar is the case with online networking; be as interactive as possible with your audience.

A good rule of thumb to follow is to always reply to their queries and comments by the end of your day. Responding not only helps in promoting your brand value but also helps in creating a trustworthy relationship with your audience.

Be Active On The Right Hashtags

Hashtags have grown to tremendous popularity on social media as they make it simpler to participate in conversations relevant to your brand. When using hashtags, always use the long-tail ones that pertain to your speciality {niche group} and have comparatively lower posts. You will certainly have greater possibilities of getting visibility on a particular hashtag that has only 50,000 posts as compared to 1,00,000 posts. More importantly, do not treat hashtags similarly on different platforms, as hashtags influence engagements differently depending on the social network.

Find Your Niche

Identify your target group. Not everyone may be interested in what you are saying. It is hence of primary importance to target people, keeping in mind their behaviour and demographics. To ensure better engagement and to save yourself the effort of convincing an uninterested audience, identify people who are most likely to appreciate and share your content, and reach out to them. Navigating through your direct competitors’ forums will help you identify your audience and it will also help you get an idea of what is trending.

Your Content Needs A Creative Touch

Keep your primary focus on high-quality, relevant content. Remember that even if you have taken into account all the steps above but are unable to deliver promising content, then your efforts will have been in vain. Social media provides a platform for socialising and entertainment. This requires you to be a little more creative with your posts and produce interesting content. The more important point to note is to make your content relatable to your audience, imaginative and creative while also taking into consideration the latest trends, as this is the most effective way to ensure complete participation. Videos provide an additional means to increase audience engagement.

Final Thoughts

The key to expanding your social media engagement organically is similar to search engine optimisation. Your focus should be on providing a good user experience and high-quality content while keeping your pulse on what is trending. Now that you are equipped with five different ways to increase social media engagement organically, go out and conquer the world!

Interesting thoughts here, Tanya. I think it’s easier than ever to share your own content. So combining that with curation, participation, and organic in-network activity are going to become even more important than they are today. Thanks for writing!

    Hey Tanya,

Thanks for these tips. The one tip I really haven’t been doing is promoting my profile everywhere. Besides this, I’ve been promoting myself on social groups and other blogging sites more often to build a reputation. Its my way to work smarter and less than what I was doing last year. As a result I’m gaining more.

Think about how each post might add value to your followers, does it give them advice? Does it entertain them? Does it explain something? Or motivate them to take action? If each post adds genuine value then you will build an engaged following. 🙂

Omg yes! Someone asked me earlier how I feel about low engagement… I said, even if only one person shows up – I am there for him/her. If 500 show up, I show up no different! The point is – I help spread my message.
