Here’s how you can pull the ‘dapper look’, effortlessly:
1. Rule of Thumb
Never pair a suit jacket with jeans, everyone is guilty of doing it at some point presuming it will work, but it looks awful. You have to first comprehend what type of jacket you can wear with denim; something with a bit of pattern is your first cue. Just ensure that you keep a balance; the patterns must be big enough to be conspicuous, but not too big.
2. The Fit
Fit is everything. Even the most expensive suit will look bad if it is not tailored to fit the contours of your body. To evaluate a perfectly fitting jacket you should be able to just slide your hand between your chest and buttoned-up jacket. Most suits do not possess belt loops to make the legs look longer and the trousers look cleaner. It creates the illusion of slimness making the silhouette more streamlined. And remember, the last button is there just for the style quotient and should remain unbuttoned, always.

3. The Lapel
The size of the lapel is really essential; ensure that the lapel is in proportion to the size of your frame. For instance, slimmer lapels will look more proportional to the physique of a slimmer gent and subsequently become additionally complimenting. It’s a game of proportions, so ensure your suit lapels are playing along.
4. The Tie knot
A tie knot should be subservient to the collar, always. It should never be the same size as the collar that you are wearing, but should always be smaller and should look right within the space. There is a sense of proportion between the size and shape of the tie knot and the collar. Remember, menswear is about precision.

5. The Gap
Keep in mind that wearing a suit implies that you are also fully committing to the suit. There must be no gap between your waistcoat and your trousers. The entire thought behind wearing trousers and waistcoat ~ of the same fabric and colour ~ is to create the illusion of slimness. If you interrupt it ~ so when from the slightest of gap, the shirt sticks out ~ it ruins the illusion of height. Ideally, the waistcoat is cut close to the body and hemmed to the belt-line/waistband of your trousers.
6. The Accessories
There’s a temptation to wear your most-loved accessories all at one time ~ but never overload, keep it relatively simple. Remember that it is all about an understatement when you are wearing a suit; accessories should always be harmonious. Your watch strap, belt, and shoes should be of the same leather; if not the same then it ought to be the same colour at least. If you are wearing brown shoes, you should pair them with a brown belt. Details such as the metal of the watch & cuff links also need to be coordinated.

7. Experiment with contrasts
Contrasting combinations are tricky. You might play with this trend by wearing three pieces, all of the same fabric. You may likewise do a coloured waistcoat, striped trousers, and a dark-coloured herringbone morning coat; all of it in quite subtle colours. Men do better when they are slightly understated. If you’re wearing something really bold, then dress down everything else. Tone the rest down if you tone the suit up.
More importantly, always remove the stitching on the vents and the label on the left sleeve before wearing a new suit.
So there you have it, seven brief reminders when wearing a suit to get your suit game on point!
