Easy Braided Hairstyles That Are Perfect For Any Occasion ~ Part 1
{You may access Part 2 here and Part 3 here.}
The best thing about braids ~ there are numerous ways you can wear them, and these simple interlaced hairstyles redefine “easy braids.”
From a flirtatiously thin braid added to your casual updo to the super cute braided crown headband that takes away the dreariness of wearing your hair the same way every day; braids are quick and easy. Be that as it may, if you are just beginning your styling experiments, try these hairstyles over the weekend or on your day off when you are not in a rush to test them.
Beginner’s Boho Twist Hairstyle With Long Waves
This twisted hairdo is a style you can wear throughout the day without stressing over whether it will get messy. Even if you have a wild strand that wistfully enjoys the breeze instead of submitting to the style, it will still make your hairdo look good. The absence of fuss makes it simple yet interesting where just two simple side twists create a graceful crown that looks beautiful with soft curls flowing down your shoulders.
Use a curling iron to create soft curls; depending on the type of curling iron you prefer to use, the results will vary from big to small beautiful waves. My stylist prepped my hair with a heat protectant to ensure my hair was safe from the heat of the curling iron, and a hold product to ensure that the curls turned out as expected. She then started curling my hair to form soft waves that kissed my shoulders.
My stylist then separated a section of hair from the right side, close to my ear and twisted it towards the back. A couple of bobby pins firmly held the twisted hair in place while she repeated this on the left side. Securing the twists with a few more bobby pins, she gave me a hand-held mirror so that I could check the back of my hair from different angles to ensure it looked perfect. A mist of hairspray completed my look.
What I like most about this hairstyle is how pretty it looks and the ease with which you can achieve it. The two twists need just a couple of minutes while the waves can be done in about fifteen, depending on the length of your hair.
The Twisted Crown Braid is a gorgeous variation of this hairstyle. Follow these steps to learn how:
1. Begin with a centre part and then gather two sections of your hair {about four or five-inch sections each} from one side of your head close to the centre part. These two sections will create half of the braid. If some of your hair strands in the front go rogue, then don’t tame them into your braid as it will add to your boho look.
2. Now with these two sections, begin your twisted braid by taking the front section and twisting it over the second section. Add a new section of hair to both these sections and twist them again with the new sections added in. Every twist will have the front section going over the back.
3. Keep braiding your hair by twisting the two sections and adding new sections of hair to each of the two pieces. When you reach the back of your head, stop adding new sections and loosely twist the braid till the end and secure your twisted braid with an elastic band.
4. While braiding the two sections after you reach the back of your head, create a slight slant in your braid instead of braiding your hair straight down {this creates a more flattering, effortless look}.
5. Begin with two sections of hair again on the other side of your head and follow the same steps till you have a second twisted braid at the back of your head.
6. Secure the first braid using bobby pins to the back of your head crossing the braid from one side to another so that it gently rests on the nape of your neck.
7. Repeat with the second braid so that it crosses over the first one and swoops towards the other side of your head.
8. Use a few more bobby pins to hold the two braids together and remove the elastic bands.
Tip: To secure the two braids in a better way, you can create a small opening in the loops on one of the braid towards the back and then pull out the other twisted braid through this opening.
If you are a beginner then this is your little introduction to French braids.
To conclude: I love this hairstyle because it goes perfectly well with many outfits and is great for a pool party, going to work, a girl’s day out, a much-awaited dinner date, or Sunday brunch. Let the twisted crown braid give you an effortlessly chic look which surpasses the old-school ponytails any day!
