Caperberry and Fava Celebrate World Tapas Day
Travel to the flavours of Spain right here in Bengaluru. Enjoy World Tapas Day by celebrating the joy and pleasures of eating the multi-cuisine typical offering of Spain on 16th June, at Fava and Caperberry.
A day spent sampling tapas is an unbeatable way to experience Spanish culture and savour the charms of its bars and taverns. Tapas are an exquisite, varied, and choice variety of appetisers in Spanish cuisine. They may be cold {such as mixed olives & cheese} or hot {such as chopitos, which are battered-fried baby squid}. Over time, tapas have evolved into an entire, sophisticated cuisine. This culinary speciality was first enjoyed in the 17th century, and today can include delicacies such as the very finest and juiciest acorn-fed Iberian cured ham, the traditional potato omelette, or exquisite seafood, and even miniature haute cuisine specialities prepared in tiny quantities in the form of tapas.

History of the Tapas
There are several stories about the origin of tapas, which are a part of the folklore:
One legend is told that King Alfonso X, El Sabio or “The Wise One,” made sure that Castilian taverns serving wine always accompanied it with something to eat so that the wine would not go straight to the client’s heads! Another story claims that while on a long trip, the King had stopped to rest in the town of Ventorillo del Chato in the southern province of Cádiz, and he ordered a glass of Jerez or Sherry. There was a gusty wind, so the innkeeper served him his glass of sherry covered by a slice of ham to prevent the sherry from getting dirty with sand in the air. The King apparently liked it, and when he asked for a second glass, he requested another tapa {which translates to ‘lid’ or ‘cover’} just like the first.

Bookmarked!! Tapas, that the Spanish so love paired with a drink, is well recognised worldwide as a symbol not only of Spanish gastronomy but also of its traditions and lifestyle! Thank you for sharing, Tanya! 🙂
My pleasure, Sonam. So glad you enjoyed it!
Flavours that explode in your mouth!! Can’t wait to visit! Thanks a lot for sharing!
Btw, you have exceptional writing skills, Tanya! 🙂
Delighted Sharmistha! Thank you very much.
Pure quality in all that do, Tanya. 🙂 And, I intend to indulge in these authentic bites of Spanish cuisine at Fava, soon!
Oh Sheetal! Thank you so much.
Fava is an exquisite dining experience! Chef Saha’s guiding principles are evident in the food that comes out of Fava’s kitchen: the insistence upon fresh, top-quality ingredients, simply prepared without relying on fancy equipment. 🙂
On a side note: You are so gorgeous and talented, Tanya. Much love!
Hugs Arpita!
Ah ~ the pleasures of feasting on the typical offerings of Spain! And yes, another beautiful editorial! You look amazing, as always! 🙂
Thanks much, Mona. Means a lot!
Loved reading this ❤️. I’ve visited, and find that Fava’s style isn’t easy to distill into a few words or labels… But the menu, which happens to be entirely house-made and organic, is clearly Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influenced!
Glad to hear it, Nageshwari. Thank you very much for sharing my views!
I love that Fava doesn’t really feel pegged to any one culture, but just makes food that tastes good! And, the restaurant is a unique experience with a distinct avant-garde Mediterranean appeal. Thank you for sharing. xx
My pleasure, Nivedita. Thank you for your kind appreciation!
Love this! For maximum Instagrammability, try one of the brightly coloured yet not-too-sweet juices to enhance the look of your meal. I particularly loved the hibiscus lemonade and green juice, that were refreshing and tart. Would, of course, love to visit again and give the tapas on offer a go… 🙂
I have no doubt that you will love it, Basanti!
I can see myself dining alfresco on Fava’s canopy-covered decking, feasting on large plates of mezze! 😀 Of course, you look beautiful and elegant, Tanya!
Thank you, Shweta. Sweet of you!
Such classy and elegantly designed interiors to appeal to your fine senses. The beautiful location, overlooking the Cubbon Park works in favour of this charming restaurant, too. 🙂 Tapas isn’t necessarily health food. But like everything else at Fava, it’s all about balance I guess.
Thank you for your comment, Kapu. I’m so glad you resonate with this.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Freshly prepared antipasti to some delicious sea food, this restaurant seems to have it all. Adorn your panache and cast a magical spell, Fava!
🙂 Definitely hear you on that one, Komal!
OMG Tanya! I am your biggest fan, and now with this share, I am drooling all over… Even your write ups are a feast for the soul… Piece de resistance. ❤️
Means the world coming from you, Kaushik. Thank you so very much!
The look is smart, the interiors are done elegantly, and (like you’ve shared) the food looks exceptional! Loved everything about this post – beautiful pictures, lovely writing, and you look beautiful! ✨✨✨
Thank you, Akkineni. You are just the best!
Beautiful dishes to look at… I’m guessing the taste forces you to really hone down and get to the real soul of what you’re eating. Love this share!
Thank you for your thoughtful words, Chaitanya!
