Banjara Melting Pot Fine Dining Restaurant
“Banjara Melting Pot”: The delightful ‘jugal-bandi’ of two Culinary giants ~ ‘Melting Pot’ of Juhu Residency, Mumbai and ‘Banjara’ of Goldfinch Hotels, Bangalore.
I was recently invited by Neel Sharma, Head of Sales South India, for a tasting at Banjara Melting Pot Fine Dining Restaurant; a place which was once the abode of renowned painter and filmmaker, M F Hussain. The restaurant property is an artwork in itself; the stone staircase leads you to the first floor of this gorgeous property, where each wall bears testimony to Hussain’s masterful works of art.
Elegant décor coupled with a cool ambience, Banjara Melting Pot fine dining restaurant serves delectable Pan-Asian cuisine, with specialisation in Coastal Karnataka cuisine.
A table was set, and I was served delicious Watermelon juice that cleansed my pallet for the starters. Among the starters, the ‘Lalbari Chicken Kebab’, a Banjara signature, was served in a beautiful copper angethi. The kebabs were marinated in a special masala {red tandoori} and grilled to perfection on coals, leaving a delicious taste of spinach and cheese fillings cooked to perfection.
The ‘Lucknowi Seekh Kebab’ was flavourful with coriander and green chillies, and so tender that it practically melted in my mouth. Next was the ‘Paneer Ke Shikanje’ or Cottage Cheese, which was stuffed with green chutney, marinated in masala {chatpata tandoori} and grilled with green pepper cubes and tomato over charcoal, for a perfect spicy flavour. Coastal Karnataka special, ‘Prawn Ghee Roast’, where spicy coastal style prawns were roasted to perfection, was absolutely fabulous too!
For the main course, I experimented with ‘Mangalore Fish Gassi’, a special coastal dish prepared by marinating fish in coconut gravy, which pairs nicely with ‘Neer Dosa’, and the special Rajasthani style ‘Laal Maas’. The dosa softened and soaked in the thick curries, which resulted in a fusion of textures and spicy zest in each bite.
A special mention for the impeccable service at Banjara Melting Pot Fine Dining Restaurant ~ attentive, unobtrusive and helpful.
