The billowing fabric

and the ruffles, and paint splash

left me bohemian and sensuous…

Building a proper wardrobe is like building a home. Indeed, you should think of it as a home, because it is something you’re going to live in. It must be comfortable and suit all your needs. ~ Edith Head

It is not an easy task for the current set of fashion designers to come up with unique styles and designs that are trendy and eye-catching, keeping in mind the fashion scenario that’s constantly evolving. And since fashion reinvents itself now and then, my kudos to those designers who serve us with collections that are not only about comfort but also about expressing ourselves and reflecting our personality and individuality. Starting from those beautiful maxi dresses we flaunt at a party, to the basic flip flops we slip into at home; these designers have managed to touch every area of our lives with their creativity, style, and unique designs.

In that vein, maxi dresses, I could say, compliment our womanly silhouette perfectly. The swishing of the fabric over your toes as you stroll along a beach, the soft gentle whispers that speak to you as you weave through a market on a sunny day, and the tantalising drape of the long, flowing fabric that makes heads turn as you walk into a room… There is this sense of being alive while you wear them.

In my opinion, the maxi dress is a must-have in every woman’s wardrobe. It can be worn to suit your mood and time of the day, i.e. ideal for weddings, beach parties, as well as casual wear. You can wear it over your bikini with flip flops during the day, and add a denim jacket and gold accessories for the night. Well, it is a good thing then that this stylish and comfortable silhouette is back in fashion all over again; enhancing the beauty of the wearer, making her look elegant and charming!

The Maxi Dress Edit: On keeping it simple, yet looking like a style diva!

Sticking with the holiday vibe, there are so many vibrant floor-skimming dresses in the shops and online at the moment. I recently wore an exquisite tropical paint-splash column-style maxi during my staycation at the InterContinental Fujairah, that highlighted my delicate collar bone and beautifully toned back! I love the look of this low-back maxi, and if you look at it closely, it has a versatile design. After all, what’s easier than one pretty creation that just needs a moment’s notice to don and step out?

Tip: I would suggest accessorising the maxi featured with a streamlined bag and colourful flats to keep the look tasteful and stylish!

The Maxi Dress Edit: On taking the maxi from day to night.

I keep reminiscing about vacations that Vikram and I have taken, and what comes to mind is the great food that we have part taken off… I always look forward to making dinner reservations wherever we go. And, although I do often get the chance to dress up at home, getting dressed up for at least one evening during our trip is always fun!

Tip: Try knotting the bottom of your maxi, and putting on some strappy heels with your favourite accessories. Additionally, wear a lace bralette for a look that will leave you feeling magical!
