My Experience with NovaLash Lash Extensions

My Experience with NovaLash Lash Extensions

I was recently invited by NovaLash at Spa la Vie by L’Occitane, VR Bengaluru to try on a full set of semi-permanent eyelash extensions. As I do love voluminous lashes, I decided to accept their offer. Imagine waking up each morning with beautiful lashes {without the need to apply mascara}! For many, the idea may seem somewhat alarming or difficult to grasp ~ hair glued to your natural eyelashes. I must confess that I too was apprehensive at first. Would they suit me? Would they cause damage to my natural lashes? Would they bother my eyes?

Well, this is how it works: You and the certified NovaLash professional {your consultant} talk through the look you wish to achieve with the NovaLash Lash Extensions on whether to go subtle or striking {depending on your desired outcome}. The look I opted for was relatively natural-looking lashes because I hardly ever wear false eyelashes and thought it would be rather a leap to have full-on false-looking lashes.

The process comprises of applying NovaLash Lash Extensions to each natural lash in a fanned-out shape, usually resulting in a 1:1 ratio with 80-100 extensions per eye. This technique creates a fuller and feather-like effect while still appearing somewhat natural looking.

My experience with NovaLash lash extensions: You need to keep your eyes closed all through the treatment {to prevent the glue from entering your eyes} which does become a little uncomfortable as your eyes start to water {from the fumes of the glue}. However, before long your eyes do adjust and it isn’t that bad. The lashes are applied one at a time to your natural lashes by the certified NovaLash professional, building up layers until the desired effect is achieved. And voila, you are left with fluttery, gorgeous lashes!

I have listed below the answers to a few questions you may have:

How long do they take to apply? NovaLash Lash Extensions take around 2 hours to apply, so if you are fidgety this may not be for you. I didn’t mind it and fell asleep.

How long do they last? As the lash extensions fall out naturally along with your own eyelash cycle, once you follow your lash care routine, you should get 4-5 weeks out of your lashes before you will require refills.

Can you get them wet? You will be advised against getting your eyes wet or going swimming 24 hours after the treatment. Aftercare instructions will be provided by your technician.

Do they ruin your own eyelashes? I have heard a few women say that getting lash extensions “ruined” their natural lashes; however I can only imagine this is down to receiving poor service. I do highly advocate going to a person who specialises in this treatment to avoid an unpleasant outcome.

Are they expensive? That’s a personal opinion. Lash extensions can range anywhere from Rs 3000 to Rs 8000+ in Bangalore, but I really believe you pay for what you get. I highly discourage you from going somewhere cheap, as I expect the outcome will reflect this.

I love that you can hardly tell that my lashes are false in the photographs above. They are attached so well and beautifully {by certified NovaLash professional, Atul Rawat} that they look so real. 🙂
