The bare truth: a well-rested mind and a healthy tummy take care of it all, really.

Although when it comes to our hair, Ayurveda has the best solutions; if only we could make it a routine. Soft and healthy hair is achievable with some extra time added to our daily routine for our hair. And it does not require a lot of effort, yet the results are very promising. I rely on this non-toxic routine for adding shine and silky-softness to my hair. For many of you, these habits will also help in keeping hair problems at bay or fighting hair problems that you may currently have. Your Hair Loves Almonds

Almonds are a rich source of magnesium which helps in improving hair growth and make your hair stronger with healthier strands. Almonds are also known to play a role in delaying the process of greying. The best way to eat almonds is to soak a few in water overnight and then eat them in the morning after removing the skin.

 

Try Fresh Tulsi Leaves

Tulsi cleanses the blood and moderates Pitta which is related to heat in your body. The best way to eat Tulsi is to pluck the fresh leaves in the morning and have them as is. But if you prefer slurping it down with your fruit smoothie then the results will still be the same. It puts a check on early greying and helps you flaunt lustrous and healthy hair. Tulsi is also known to have a calming effect on your body which reduces stress and helps you avoid hair fall caused by stress.

Add Amla to Your Diet

Amla is a valued ingredient in many Ayurveda medicines. It is known for its oxidation abilities which help in reducing the overall ageing process. The same nutrients in Amla also slow down premature greying of hair. Additionally, Ayurveda deems Amla to be one of the best means of staying youthful.

 

Detoxify Through Nasya Karma

Nasya Karma is a detoxification process that helps in the purification of blood flowing through your face and scalp and is best practised in the morning before you take a bath. Seat yourself comfortably in a chair and prop your head backward. With the help of a dropper, pour 3-4 drops of coconut, mustard, or sesame oil in each of your nostrils. Strongly inhale and you are done. If you feel the oil in your throat, then spit it out and gargle. Simple as it may seem, the process has a lot of benefits for both hair and skin.

Ayurveda believes that the nose is the gateway to the brain, eyes, ears, and hair. So, doing this will help your hair stay healthy and beautiful. Point to note: picking the right oil can make a notable difference. If you know your Dosha, then you can choose an oil that complements your dosha as it will help you take better advantage of the benefits of that oil.

Store-bought coconut oil usually has excess water, so bring it to a boil and cool it down before using. To increase the benefits of coconut oil, you can heat a little oil and add Bhringraj to it. You will first have to crush the herb in a mortar pestle which will help in obtaining a liquid extract that can then be added to coconut oil. Adding Neem oil to your main oil can be helpful, too.

Make Mukha Abhyanga a Daily Morning Ritual

Once you get into the habit of doing it every day, you will notice that Mukha Abhyanga can be a very relaxing process. It harps on the fact that when the 12 Marma points on our face are massaged, it increases circulation which results in glowing skin and healthy hair. The Marma Points are located in parts of the body where two types of tissues conjoin. They are considered to be points of prana or life-giving breath.

Massage your face with coconut or sesame oil for 5-10 minutes, focusing on the 12 Marma points and you will start relaxing as your face feels a rush of blood circulating through it helping you maintain glowing skin. The oil enters your bloodstream and reaches your scalp, thereby increasing the health of your hair.

A good way to end the Mukha Abhyanga ritual is to use steam to open the pores and sweat glands of your face fostering better circulation and purifying the skin in the process. This is known as Nadi Sweda.

 

Don’t Forget Your 100 Comb Strokes

How often have we nonchalantly dismissed our mother’s constant advice to comb our hair after our morning shower? Did you know that combing your hair to ensure that dirt and grit loosen off not only improves the circulation of blood in the scalp but improves overall hair health?
